Bear Boat Challenge

Homework for Term 4 are a variety of bear challenges.
For the first 2 weeks the children worked on making a boat 40cm long with a bear (soft toy) inside their boat holding an egg.
They had to get their boat across the school pool without sinking and making sure that their bear stayed dried and their egg didn't break.
Every boat reached the other side and all but one bear stayed dried.
It was a great effort by all children and we had fun watching their boats sail across the pool.
Here are some photos of our boat race.
 Getting ready to set sail.

On your marks! Get set! GO!!!!

Monkey fell out of boat but managed to save the egg!

Camp Whatuwhiwhi 2012 Kotuku

Firstly on camp we set up our tents and got ready to start making our rafts. They were mainly made out of wood, bamboo, and rope. Only one was a failure out of five rafts. On Thursday we each went on our separate activities which were survival, problem solving, snorkelling along with jet-skiing and kayaking. Later on we had a concert it was a great hit especially Mrs Pedersen man o’ man does she need a lesson on make-up. On Friday we were packing up to go but first we got to go snorkelling one more time. Then we were going to leave and that was it for the camp some people were meeting up at the school but some people were get picked up at the camp.

Welcome To The Kotuku Class Room

Kotuku is a white heron. A rare bird (100-120 birds). It is very beautiful. Maori saw them as a unique special bird.

We are at the top of New Zealand in a wonderful place called Mangonui. We live next to the sea, we swim, we fish, we go diving and sometimes just go for a walk down our divine beaches. We have plenty of cool places we like to go to.

Mangonui School has 150 students (Yr1-Yr6) and seven classrooms. The Kotuku class is the senior classroom, it has 23 cool learners and one fantastic teacher.
